Another Jimmy Cliff Classic Has Made It’s Way Into Main steam TV

I wonder if Jimmy Cliff ever imagined when he recorded the classic Rocksteady song “You Can Get It If You Really Want” back in 1970 it would be a part of one of the most common household commercials in 2021 π€.
The song is currently being used in a brand new E*TRADE TV campaign, Everest Fund, which debuted nationally on mainstream TV stations in the United States.
The song was famously included on the soundtrack of the 1972 film “The Harder They Come”. Cliff’s breakthrough role as reggae musician Ivan Martin in this cult favorite was the one that launched his international fame.
The song was also featured in the 1997 romance/action picture Speed 2: Cruise Control and on the album Sebastian from The Little Mermaid. It was used again in 2005 in Will Smith’s film Hitch, and in 2012 in Hugh Grant’s animated film The Pirates! Band of Misfits.
Jimmy Cliff has appeared in three major films, including the 1986 comedy Club Paradise, co-starring Robin Williams and Peter O’Toole, and the 1990 action picture Marked for Death, starring Steven Seagal. He is often regarded as reggae’s first international star.
Jimmy Cliff and Bob Marley were the only two Jamaican reggae acts inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2010.
