SOUND SYSTEM CULTURE BLACK KAT VS. SUPER GOLD (RUB A DUB THURSDAY)

(ReggaeVibeRadio.com) Two Sound System warriors collided inside the Rub A Dub Thursdays on Thursday night. Super Gold Sound System took on the legendary Black Kat in an all-out, no holds barred, musical war! For those of us who love sound system culture, this was a classic battle! First of all congrats to Super Gold and the owner “Gold Teeth”. I’ve said longtime Super Gold is a bad sound they need a good selector that can mix, and a young mic man that can handle the big-time dubs that the sound has.
As for Black Kat Sound System, they have never been at full strength unless the War Tanka is at the control! He was in the crown but didn’t play the sound that night, which I think he should have because Super Gold came for the kill and they were underestimated. First, Black Kat selector (I don’t know his name but!) tried to diss Avatar with some “tracing like a gal” for Jamaicans who understand where I’m coming from. He stated that Super Gold’s selector Avatar jumped from sound to sound, he specifically said “Avatar would play any sound as long as he knows there’s a plate of Curry goat there for him”. 🤣 To address that statement from Black Kat’s selector in all fairness, selectors don’t sign contracts with Sound Systems as far as I know yet. Some sound systems don’t have good management, and some sounds are stuck at a level for various reasons. As a selector, they have the right to move forward to progress their career just like plenty of the athletes you see traded in various sports. With that said…
