Several events are happening worldwide to commemorate this special day. In Jamaica, there will be a panel discussion titled “Saluting the Global Influence of 80s and 90s Dancehall and its impact on Hip Hop, Afro Beats, Reggaeton and EDM” at 10:00 AM local time. This will be followed by a dance lecture demonstration, “From Brukins to Bogle: The Evolution of Dance in Dancehall,” highlighting the rich history of Jamaican dance (IRD | IReggae Day).

In London, Sheba Montserrat Productions will host an event featuring interviews with prominent figures such as Lady Banton on the rise of women in sound system culture, Leon Leiffer on Jamaican influence, and Jah Bunny on his contributions to Black British music. The event will also feature live drumming, poetry, dance, and a cultural market(Eventbrite).

In Seattle, a peace concert will showcase local performers, craft and food vendors, celebrating the spirit of reggae in a community park with free admission (IRD | IReggae Day). Additionally, the Italian Reggae gathering “One Love Reggae Reunion” will feature 24 singers, 32 sound systems, and 16 hours of music each day for four days (IRD | IReggae Day).

At 11:55 AM (Jamaica time), media worldwide are invited to synchronize and play Bob Marley’s “One Love” followed by “Here I Come” as a tribute to Dennis Brown, whose memorial also falls on July 1st. Reggae fans are encouraged to share messages of love, unity, and hope using the hashtags #OneLove and #IRDPullUp (IRD | IReggae Day) (IRD | IReggae Day).
