The 40th IRAWMA AWARDS

Written by on May 11, 2023

(ReggaeVibeMedia.com) – It was the 40th annual International Reggae And World Music Awards held in Kingston Jamaica, at the Pegasus Hotel. Beenie Man didn’t perform or officially attend the event, but he did pass through to accept his award for Best Dancehall Stage craft Entertainer, and Best Caribbean Entertainer. The King of Dancehall had this to say.

According to Bounty Killer, the IRAWMA Award he received for “Outstanding contribution to the Jamaican music industry for over 30 years” is superior to the coveted American Grammy Award.

Bounty Killer praised the IRAWMA in his acceptance speech at the event’s 40th anniversary and urged Jamaicans to support their own. Bounty’s 2002 album Ghetto Dictionary: The Mystery was nominated for Best Reggae Album at the Grammy Awards but didn’t take home the highly coveted prize. The Killer had some very inspiring words to say about IRAWMA he post on his official social media outlets.

After a loud public altercation in 2019 over their song No Worries D’Angel and Spice put an end to their four-year drama at the 40th IRAWMA Awards. Prior to the start of the event, they had their Red Carpet moment. Later during the event the Dancehall divas were spotted partying, and chatting with one another while looking through their phones to unblock one another on Instagram. The two gave an amazing performance together performing the song “No Worries”.

The 2023 Grammy Award Winner for best Reggae album Kabaka Pyramid was in the building to celebrate the 40th event with his parents. He was seen taking plenty of pictures with many of the other celebrities that walked away with plaques.

Congrats to Dr. Ephraim Martin on 40 years of highlighting those who help spread the music and the culture around the globe. For the complete winners list and more check out IRAWMA.com
