Dancehall performer D’Angel is expressing her dissatisfaction over the lack of public support for today’s (June 23) National Day of Mourning for Jamaica’s Children. The Proclamation of Friday, June 23 to be Observed as a National Day of Mourning for Jamaica’s Children Who Have Been Victims of Violence and Abuse was supported by Prime Minister Andrew Holness. The Proclamation calls on people to observe the Day of Mourning by participating in devotions, memorial services at their places of employment, residences, churches, and schools, as well as solitary or small-group prayer vigils. People may also observe silent moments alone or in groups, switch on their headlights, dress all in black, ring church bells at noon, and take any other appropriate action.
