This Wednesday night, Anthony Anderson, Regina Hall, Kelly Rowland, and Terrence J will virtually join forces to present BET’s coronavirus relief benefit concert called Saving Our Selves: A BET COVID-19 Relief Effort.
The COVID-19 concert special will feature virtual performances and appearances from big stars, including Alicia Keys, D.J. Khaled, John Legend, Chance the Rapper, Usher, JhenΓ© Aiko, Tyrese, and Charlie Wilson.
Before the special, BET partnered with United Way on a relief fund to “support and amplify relief efforts in our communities severely impacted by the pandemic.” As CNN notes, African Americans are being disproportionately infected with and dying from the coronavirus.
Yahoo News Reports – “The COVID-19 pandemic is savagely compounding the profound health and financial vulnerabilities many Black Americans face. Every day, there are new reports of how this pandemic is killing African Americans at much higher rates than other communities.” Scott Mills, president of BET, said in a statement. “BET is using all of our resources β our capital, our media platforms, our relationships with the creative community, sponsors, businesses and charitable organizations to support our community in this time of crisis.”
