Vaughn Benjamin known to the world now as Akea Beka has officially made his earthly transition as confirmed by our own reliable sources. His cause of death has yet to be released but as the story develops we will bring you details. The former lead vocalist for the band midnite had not shown any warning signs of anything that would cause his death.
According to sources a extensive european tour was in the works for 2020. Many artist have taken to Social Media to send heart felt condolences. Benjamin formed Midnite with his brother, Ron Benjamin Jr., keyboard and bass player, in St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands in 1989. The pair are the sons of Antiguan music legend Ron Benjamin.
Through one of members personal experience with Vaughn in his earlier years he expressed that he aspired very much reach the levels of the great Robert Nesta Marley and he felt that some day he would. He was a very prolific writer, and outstanding vocalist.
Many of the persons that are a part of the Reggae Vibe have spoken with Vaughn over the years but never any formal interview was conducted. For me Ras Mahddy personally the last time we talked was in Wilmington, Delaware before a performance at the Peoples Festival. The conversation was short and sweet but very memorable. He had a very strong spirit that shines through his music.
