WCMF Night Two Tonight: Ne-Yo Headlines, Alkaline Brings the Dancehall Heat to Dominica

(ReggaeVibeMedia.com) — Night one is in the books, and night two is the one everybody has been waiting for. The World Creole Music Festival continues tonight, Saturday, October 24, at Windsor Park Sports Stadium in Roseau, Dominica, with Grammy-winning R&B star Ne-Yo headlining and Jamaican dancehall star Alkaline on the same bill.
Friday's opening night set the tone the way only this festival can. Capleton and Skillibeng brought the Jamaican dancehall fire, Haiti's Klass carried the kompa side of the night, Martinique singer Maurane Voyer brought the zouk energy, and Dominica's own Colton T, TK International, Midnight Groovers and more kept the home crowd moving. It was a reminder of what WCMF does best: major international names sharing one stage with the sounds that grew out of the Creole Caribbean.
Tonight raises the stakes. Ne-Yo, performing in Dominica for the first time, leads a night built for a full house, with a catalogue that runs from "So Sick" and "Miss Independent" to "Closer" and "Give Me Everything." For the dancehall crowd, Alkaline is the hook: the Vendetta boss on a festival stage in Roseau is a set fans will be talking about long after the weekend ends.
The rest of tonight's bill keeps the Caribbean front and centre. Haitian konpa legends Tabou Combo bring five decades of history to the stage, Dominica's bouyon king Asa Bantan carries the home sound, and Grenada's V'ghyn and Trilla G round out a night that moves from R&B to dancehall to bouyon to konpa without ever leaving the island's rhythm.
And the weekend is not done when tonight ends. Sunday's closing night brings Trinidad soca king Machel Montano, South African amapiano star Uncle Waffles, Fridayy and British reggae legend Maxi Priest to Windsor Park, closing out the 26th edition of the festival in style.
So the question for tonight is simple: which set are you waiting on? Ne-Yo's smooth run through the hits, Alkaline's dancehall takeover, Tabou Combo's konpa history, or Asa Bantan repping Dominica on home soil? Whatever your pick, Windsor Park is where it happens tonight.
