(ReggaeVibeMedia.com) - The 26th World Creole Music Festival comes to a close tonight, Sunday, October 25, at Windsor Park Sports Stadium in Roseau, Dominica, with a closing night built for the history books. Soca king Machel Montano, reggae legend Maxi Priest, amapiano queen Uncle Waffles and Haitian-American star Fridayy lead a finale bill that spans soca, reggae, amapiano, soukous and the wider Creole sound, closing out three nights of Dominica's Independence season celebrations.
Friday's opening night brought Capleton, Skillibeng and Haitian kompa masters Klass to the Windsor Park stage, and Saturday's night two belonged to Ne-Yo and Alkaline, with Tabou Combo, Asa Bantan and more. Tonight's finale is the festival's broadest crossover: Congolese guitar legend Diblo Dibala, Guadeloupe's Les Aiglons and Jean Marc Ferdinand, Shelly and The Signal Band, Gwada G, Unstoppable Shax, Nice and DJ Taffy round out the bill.
For the reggae lane, Maxi Priest is the direct hook, a voice that has carried reggae and reggae fusion around the world for decades. For the soca massive, Montano brings a 40-year career to the closing stage. And with Uncle Waffles bringing amapiano's global movement and Fridayy bringing his Grammy-nominated R&B to the same night, the finale is exactly what the festival's name promises: the world, in Creole.
One more thing for tonight: if you are staying in, the Caribbean Music Awards premiere airs at 9 PM ET on YouTube and TRACE. But if you want the live Caribbean energy, Dominica is where it is at tonight.
