(ReggaeVibeMedia.com) - The clock is ticking on the 2027 Best Reggae Album Grammy race: a reported 119 albums have entered this year's competition — up sharply from 73 last cycle — and first-round voting closes on Thursday, October 22.
The surge in entries tells its own story. Reggae and dancehall are moving too much music, across too many territories, for the old numbers to hold. Nominees will be announced on November 16, with the ceremony set for February 7, 2027 in Los Angeles — and with voting this close, every week of streaming and every headline counts.
One name already moving like a frontrunner: Masicka. His album Forever Reign has pulled 62.9 million global streams, according to Luminate data, with 9.4 million YouTube views in Jamaica alone over the past four weeks — the kind of numbers that make voting members pay attention.
Forty-eight hours to the voting deadline. Watch this space — the Grammy countdown is officially on.
