The 13-track project blends Afrobeats, dancehall, and South African sounds, with guests including Lojay, Judah Earl, JAZZWRLD, and Thukuthela. (ReggaeVibeMedia.com) Afrobeats and dancehall just made it official on wax. Nigerian star Fireboy DML released his fifth studio album, ZUKO!, on Friday through YBNL Nation and EMPIRE, and sitting at track three is "CLAAT!," a collaboration with Jamaican dancehall general Masicka. Placing the record that early in the tracklist is no accident. Fireboy wants listeners to run into the Caribbean connection head-on, not discover it buried at the bottom of the project.

ZUKO! is a 13-track statement and Fireboy's first full-length project since Adedamola arrived in 2024. The album blends Afrobeats with Jamaican dancehall and South African sounds, with guests spanning the continent: Judah Earl opens the record on "DEAR FATHER," Lojay links up on "GODDESS," and South Africa's JAZZWRLD and Thukuthela join for "IMALI." The title nods to Prince Zuko from Avatar: The Last Airbender, a journey of conflict, transformation, and redemption that Fireboy says mirrors his own path. He described the album as a new chapter in his journey, both as an artist and as a person, centered on growth and pushing his creativity further.

For dancehall fans, "CLAAT!" is the moment that matters. Masicka has spent the last few years rising to the very top of the dancehall conversation, and a feature placed this prominently on one of Africa's biggest stars' albums says everything about his reach right now. This kind of link-up between Afrobeats and dancehall has been brewing for years, with the two sounds trading influence across stages and studios worldwide. What makes this one land differently is the stage it happens on: a major album, track three, no burying it as a bonus.

Fireboy is rolling the album out with real muscle. Alongside the release, he dropped the official video for "ONE MAN REGIMENT," shot in black-and-white with bold red accents, extending the project's cinematic direction. Before release day, he also posted THE RED COUCH SESSION: ZUKO! on YouTube, walking fans through the concept, the theme, and where the name comes from. The message is clear: this is not a casual drop, it is a deliberate reinvention.

Now the real test begins. The streams will tell the story in the coming days, but the early question for the dancehall world is how "CLAAT!" travels once it reaches Jamaican ears and the global dancehall circuit. When a general like Masicka gets this kind of platform, the streets and the playlists usually answer fast. ZUKO! is out now on all major streaming platforms.
