Andrew Tosh and Anthony B led the musical salute to Peter Tosh at Tosh Fest 2026 at Woodstock Beach in Negril on October 17, marking 50 years of Legalize It, as patrons braved rain to honour the late singer. The celebration opened with Nyabinghi drumming and a legacy screening, with Mutabaruka, Medisun, Karbon, Dahvid Slur, Aza Lineage and Rory Stone Love also contributing. The wider commemorative week ran from October 14 to Peter Tosh's earthstrong on October 19 in Belmont, Westmoreland. Anthony B, on Reggae Vibe Media's interview shortlist, said he chose to follow Peter Tosh rather than follow the crowd.

(ReggaeVibeMedia.com) — Patrons braved rains to honour Peter Tosh's memory, the Jamaica Observer reports, as Andrew Tosh and Anthony B led the musical salute at Tosh Fest 2026. The festival took place at Woodstock Beach in Negril, Westmoreland, on Saturday, October 17, honouring the late singer's legacy while celebrating 50 years since the release of his landmark 1976 album Legalize It. Rain delayed the start, but patrons still turned out in large numbers, joining Andrew Tosh — Peter Tosh's son — as he performed his father's most famous hits, his voice carrying the resemblance the crowd came to hear. Anthony B combined high-energy delivery with conscious messaging, and in his own words: "While others were doing other things, I chose not to follow the crowd; I chose to follow Peter Tosh."

The celebration opened with a Nyabinghi drumming ceremony, followed by a screening highlighting Peter Tosh's musical legacy — an album that confronted cannabis stigma and spoke to personal freedom, human rights and political advocacy, cut at Treasure Isle and Randy's in Kingston with Aston "Family Man" Barrett and Robbie Shakespeare among the players who carried it. Poet Mutabaruka, Grammy Award-winning songwriter Medisun, conscious music act Karbon, young artistes Dahvid Slur and Aza Lineage, and selector Rory Stone Love also contributed to the day. Niambe McIntosh, head of the Peter Tosh Foundation, spoke of the turnout despite the rain and of the intentional decision to hold the celebrations in Peter Tosh's home parish, Westmoreland: "We made the intentional commitment to hosting the celebrations in the parish he loved." The foundation expects Tosh Fest to grow in local and international patronage, bringing economic benefits to Westmoreland residents and becoming a fixture on Jamaica's cultural and entertainment calendar.

The wider commemorative week ran from a Taste of Tosh at the Peter Tosh Museum on October 14, through Tosh Talks on October 15 at Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts and on October 16 at The University of the West Indies, with academic presentations and panel discussions on Tosh's life, legacy and Legalize It, to October 19 — National Heroes' Day and Peter Tosh's earthstrong — with dawn Nyabinghi drumming and a blessing by the Ethiopian Orthodox Church at his resting place in Belmont, Westmoreland. It is a fitting shape for a salute: not one night, but a week of remembering, in the place he came from.

For Reggae Vibe Media, this story is also a live thread. Anthony B is on our interview shortlist, and a salute led by Tosh's own son and one of the conscious voices he inspired is exactly the kind of roots heritage moment our audience gathers around. The Stepping Razor's message did not soften with time, and on a rainy night in Negril, it did not need to.
