Protoje has been one of this generations most creative artist. Protoje’s unique style of Reggae with a touch of Hip-Hop flavor has made this album entitled “A matter of time” one of 2018’s most wanted.
“A matter of time” is Protoje’s fifth album released and was just as highly anticipated as “Royalty Free” his previous release in 2016.
With the smash hit singles “Blood money” and “Bout noon” being released previous to the full album a major anticipation was created in the industry. Both tracks being produced by Winta James one of the hottest producers in the business right now gave the album more reason to listen. Winter James is responsible for many of today’s biggest anthems such as “Here comes trouble” on the “Rootsman Riddim”and the “Militancy Riddim”.
The 10 track album “A matter of time” was release by In.Digg.Nation Collective/Overstand Entertainment. The album features collaborated works with Chronixx and Mortimer.
On the track “Blood Money” Protoje tells the real story of how the underground politics are really effecting the island of Jamaica which is home home to Protoje. Like many of the albums produced right now you get more digitally produced music rather than live instrumentation.
The album overall is what you would expect from Protoje. He brings his Hip-Hop infused lyrical Reggae flow backed with some of the most creative production from a few of Jamaica’s top producers. Right now Protoje’s brand is one of the most notable in the industry. A very good album overall but will it get the recognition it deserves is left to be seen.
Tracks like #7 No Guarantee feat. Chronixx, and #9 Truths & Rights (feat. Mortimer) and #8 Lessons all carry a very strong message in the music. For the young conscious generation of Reggae lovers this one has to be added to the collection.
