Album Review: Fantan Mojah - Soul Rasta [Mojah Music]

Fantan Mojah
Soul Rasta
Album Review
Reggae Vibe Rating
IIIIIIIII 8.0 / 10

Fantan delivers a mighty lyrical roar on his 5th album release in his 12 year career entitled Soul Rasta.  Fantan Mojah from the beginning of his career has always been a very inspirational artist. On track #1. “Never Give Up”  Fantan sends the message of inspiration encouraging those who chose to listen to not give up. This track sets listeners on a righteous musical journey leading up to the next track #2. “Jah Give Us Life” which is a testimony of the gift of life that giveth.

Track #3 “Roots & Culture” is another heavy blow from the singjay to put it plain and simple. For those who are familiar with Fantan Mojah you may know track #5 “Rasta Got Soul” which was the title track for his previous album. Track #6 “Cool & Irie” is a Jamaican anthem showing love to the land we love for all Jamaicans. Fantan mentions in the previous track about Jamaican style. A part of Jamaican style is the good herbs. Track #7 “Hydro” is a another anthem, this one for the herb smokers. The track Hydro  is one of the biggest tune on the album in my opinion; Shouts out to Muta, and Elise Kelly. The combination of Capleton, Turbulence, and Fantan Mojah packs just as much power as the city of Kingston itself. The three veterans are all featured on track #8 “Kingston Town” which speaks about the “essence” :0) of the city. Track #9 “Heavenly Throne” I describe as high energy dancehall righteous tune that should blaze the dancehall Reggae scene. Track #10 in my opinion is one of the heaviest tracks on the album “Red Light” which features a reinvented version of Steel Pulse’s diddim from their hit “Steppin Out” featured on their 1984 album Earth Crisis for those who love to dig it up! Track #11 “Travel so far” a love dedication from the lion rounds out a very engaging collection of music from one of this generations greats. A heavy mix of digital production along with some live instrumentation brings us to the 8.0 we gave this album. Support the artist!
